Jean Root releases a lovely indie R&B tune, entitled, “Thinking”

Jean Root is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, arranger, and producer from Sweden. Not too long ago, she released a lovely indie R&B tune, entitled, “Thinking.”

Jean Root – “Thinking” single

“Something that I said, something that I did way back then. Probably been thinking too much. At times, I feel it all, sometimes, I don’t feel a thing. Suddenly, I’m in disguise, and then the shame came to see me and greet me with a smile.” – lyrics

‘Thinking’ tells an introspective tale about a young woman who overthinks often. Apparently, she’s out of touch with reality, perhaps, and finds herself constantly sinking mentality. Throughout the day and nighttime hours, she worries about why anxiety covers her eyes. With a heavy heart, she asks herself a series of intriguing questions, “What if I would let my guard down? Would it maybe ease my mind? And what If I would lose control? Would I be able to just let go?”

‘Thinking’ contains a mental health-related narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will surely resonate well with fans of Seinabo Sey. The sentimental tune possesses drums and bass-laden instrumentation flavored with a groovy indie R&B vibration. Furthermore, “Thinking” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Jean Root’s upcoming EP. The project, recorded in a live session with almost all of the musicians in the same room, captures the presence and human feel when music is being played live.

“I’ve always seen myself as an individual who feels a little too much. Sometimes, I’m incredibly good at dealing with it and just go with it, and sometimes escape feels like the only way out. I would say that the EP describes that particular journey in different ways. (i.e. the failing concept – to want to run before one has learned to walk).” – Jean Root explained

Jean Root represents a fresh, organic sound that derives from the mix between the analog tape and modern recorded vocals. Her music maintains a landscape of melancholic harmonies with a voice of unfiltered and vulnerable lyrics.
