Grace May releases a lovely debut single, entitled, “Quiet”

Grace May is a New York-based singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a lovely debut single, entitled, “Quiet”.

Grace May – “Quiet”

“Broken, what does it mean to be broken? Do you need to be in a million pieces for the world to see or is it a quiet thing? Cry for help, how do I do that without playing the victim or exposing myself?Ok, so I’m hurting but I don’t want to be a burden.” – lyrics

‘Quiet’ tells an interesting tale of a young woman who struggles to deal with her loneliness. Apparently, she doesn’t want to cry out for help or burden her friends and family members with her worries.

Even though she experiences loneliness and it hurts like hell. She still continues to be quiet about her isolation. Because of that, she feels ashamed for carrying around a dark cloud that never rains.

‘Quiet’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and guitar-driven instrumentation flavored with neo-soul and modern R&B elements.

‘Quiet’ resonates loudly and encourages people who are broken in solitude to look at the glaring light shimmering at the end of their gloomy tunnels.

Whether they can envision this light of theirs or not, Grace May wants them to know that in due time their situations will get better.

Also, they shouldn’t be afraid to talk to someone because communication is the key to eliminating loneliness from their lives.

Grace May is a 22-year-old Berklee College of Music graduate who has performed backing vocalist for many notable names. Her influences include Lianne La Havas, Emily King, and H.E.R.

The bubbly entertainer wrote her “Quiet” single after listening to Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” album. Shortly afterward, she listened to old Mitchell’s interviews and became inspired by one of the songstress’ quotes.

“If you listen to the music and you see me, you’re not getting anything out of it. If you listen to that music and you see yourself… now you’re getting something out of it.” – Joni Mitchell
