Frankie Bird – “23” (Official Audio)

“‘23’ is my own personal experience of feeling like Dorothy in Oz. I wrote this song during the pandemic when I was 29, idolizing the year I was 23 when all my dreams came true and I felt like I was in Oz. I was fully living in the past, frozen in time, in denial about my present situation, and dreaming of going back in time. I felt like Dorothy, back in Kansas in her sepia-colored world, not entirely sure if any of the adventures in Oz had actually happened to her. Was it all in my head?

As the year progressed, my mindset started to change as well as the world I was living in, I wrote my album, ‘Twenty Something,’ found a new group of musicians to collaborate with and made the music I’m most proud of. For the first time in years, I was more in love with my present than my past. By the time I recorded ‘23,’ I finally felt what I was hoping for in the song. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like 29. There’s no place like here and now.” – Frankie Bird explained

It was during the pandemic when Frankie began this reinvention process. A diversion from her initial pop-influenced approach, Frankie took things back to her singer-songwriter roots on “Twenty Something,” a concept album first written in her living room with nothing but a guitar and her gumption. There, Frankie crafted songs that reflect on the highs and lows of her twenties.

“It was the most transformational year of my life, and this album was born from all realizations I had and lessons learned,” Frankie Bird stated. These lessons come from the loss of her stepdad to cancer, the dissolution of a long-term relationship, the end of her first band, and parting ways with her record label. Now, on a brand-new trajectory built on love and reconciliation, Frankie Bird is ready to soar like never before.

With a new team of collaborators, Frankie Bird brought her new vision and sound to life. Cinematic in scope, it is the music Frankie Bird was meant to bring to the world. When it comes to her initial singles, “Twenty Nothing,” “When We Were Young,” “Float,” “If I’m Being Honest,” and “Unstuck,” she has already garnered over 1M streams and received praise from notable media outlets.
