Doto – “Peace of Mind” single

“Will my eyes get used to the dark, become the color of my thoughts, I keep on wandering alone. In my mind, I can tow the heart towards a light that’ll lift me up. I keep on wondering—where’s my peace of mind?” – lyrics

‘Peace of Mind’ is something we all need and look for in this troubled world. Doto sings with a heavy heart, “Walk these roads on my own, heaven knows how much I cried. The more I search the less I know.” As the world turns on its axis, it’s kinda unclear if Doto will ever find that inner peace she optimistically wishes to obtain.

‘Peace of Mind’ contains an introspective narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Snoh Alegra, Eryn Allen Kane, and Seinabo Sey. The sentimental tune possesses acoustic and electric guitars, and thudding drum-laden instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements. Furthermore, “Peace of Mind” follows hot on the heels of Doto’s remake of Tupac Shakur’s “Mama’s Just a Little Girl” single.

Doto – “Mama’s Just a Little Girl” single

“She was born a heavy-set girl with pigtails and curls. A heart full of gold, still it won’t change the world. Though she could never understand why some underhanded plans witnessed a man die. Was only 15, should’ve been a beauty queen. Still see her crying by the caskets when her parents got killed. Little girl, don’t cry, ‘cause even though they died, you can best believe they watching over thee from the sky.” – lyrics

Mama’s Just a Little Girl’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who finds out that she’s pregnant. Apparently, time isn’t on her side, so she has to hold her head high. Her future seems dim because she has no money, no home, and she’s all alone with no partner to call her own. She never asked for this misery, but somehow, she looks at her dire situation as a blessing in disguise.
