Csöke is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter based in Sydney, Australia. Not too long ago, she released a lyric video for her self-empowering tune, entitled, “F.W.M” (an apt acronym for “f**k with myself”).
Csöke – “F.W.M” lyric video
‘F.W.M.’ tells a passionate tale of a young woman who experiences a messy breakup, betrayal, and cheating. The song holds an important message of the discovery of self-worth, although initially, it may appear as a typical “screw you” breakup tune. However, Csöke’s life journey has laid the foundations for the track. And from it, she has one goal: “For others to listen and when they sing along, manifest the energy of self-worth into their own life. Whenever the lyrics refer to one’s self (“I”), everything is uplifting, there’s no negativity, just good vibes.”
‘F.W.M’ contains a self-love narrative, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with indie-pop elements and a lite neo-soul aroma. Furthermore, “F.W.M” was created in collaboration with producer Peter Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Alice Ivy).
“I f**k with myself, I don’t need no one else.”
“When coming up with the chorus it wasn’t something I was thinking. I just blurted out ‘I f**k with myself, I don’t need no one else.’ I was almost shocked at what I said and saw Peat’s face light up and love what just came out of my mouth. It made me excited to say something nice about myself and being in a creative space that made me feel safe. It was the first time in a long time I gave myself some affirmation and believed it. It wasn’t fancy but it was for me.” – Csöke stated
Csöke released her debut single, “#1”, on Valentine’s Day 2019. Since then, she has gained attention and praise. Her music captures an empowering undercurrent in a number of broader themes around gender, identity, youth, sexuality, and self-empowerment as the calling card of youth culture today.
The title track, “F.W.M”, serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear on Csöke’s debut EP.
