Beth Macari – “Gotta Get Back” single
“My songwriting is usually very honest and based on what I have experienced. But I wanted to try and write a song with a fictional story behind it. I started rolling with the idea of a bad relationship coming to an end and realizing how much of yourself you’d lost. As the song developed, I realized I was also writing it because of how I was feeling during the lockdown. I felt like I was losing myself a little, with not being able to gig or even rehearse with my band. I guess the song has two meanings behind it.” – Beth Macari explained
‘Gotta Get Back’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who shares a fading relationship with her significant other. Eventually, she walks out the front door and says goodbye to her partner because she can’t take the drama anymore. Later, she admits that she lost herself in the process. Now, she desires to go back to being the person she used to be before she entered their relationship.
‘Gotta Get Back’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Gabrielle Current, Ziva, and Shadi G. The likable tune possesses groovy instrumentation flavored with a warm neo-soul aroma. Furthermore, “Gotta Get Back” follows mildly on the heels of Beth Macari’s latest EP, entitled, “I Am Everything,” recorded just before the pandemic hit in 2020.
Despite the limitations of the pandemic, spending the past year in lockdown hasn’t seen things slow down for Beth Macari. She performed twice at the UK’s first socially distanced venue, the Virgin Money Unity Arena. Supporting Fleetwood Mac tribute, “Rumours,” and Les Misérables star, Alfie Boe.
With live music set to make a return in 2021, Beth is looking forward to getting back on stage. She already has dates rescheduled from 2020 including support slots with Alexandra Burke on her UK tour. Also, she has an opening for Will Young at South Tyneside’s summer music festival.
