The Best Upcoming Performance Residencies In Sin City

Las Vegas, often referred to as Sin City, is full of entertainment and excitement. Everywhere you look, there is something to draw the eye and something fun to spend your time doing. Day or night, rain or shine, there’s never an excuse to be bored when visiting Vegas. Entertainment is king in this town, so nailing down a residency at any Las Vegas location is a big deal. Everyone from Celine Dion to Britney Spears has graced the premier Las Vegas stages for long-term contracts. 2023 is shaping up to be no slouch in the residencies department, and we know of all the best upcoming and current ones for you to check out.

Carrie Underwood: Reflection

One of the most successful Vegas residencies in history — second only to a larger-than-life star, Lady Gaga — was Carrie Underwood’s opening of the Resorts World Theater. Though Underwood favors classic Country subjects rather than poker songs, this show is set to be incredible. Unsurprisingly, this dazzling star is returning to Vegas after her incredibly successful run in December 2021. Her new Reflections residency looks to be more of the same.

The show promises to be everything you would expect of Las Vegas and Carrie Underwood: a riveting spectacle of dancers, aerialists, special effects, pyrotechnics, and live music, alongside Carrie’s incredible vocal talent that is so extravagant in all its glory. Carrie’s fans are devoted to the extreme, so the chances are that the 90-minute show will be revisited by the same audience more than once. And who could blame them? She is the most-followed country artist on Instagram and the most-followed female Country singer on both Facebook and Twitter — tickets will sell fast! With 85 million records sold and 28 number-one singles to her name, it’s about time Carrie Underwood was back on a Vegas stage.

Location: Resorts World Theater

Dates: Sept. 20, 22-23, 27, 29-30; Nov. 29; Dec. 1-2, 6, 8-9, 13, 15-16

Katy Perry: Play

Anyone who has seen Katy Perry live or on TV knows that her live shows are an unmatched spectacle of the cute, crazy, and glamorous. If you’ve never seen such a blessed event in person, you’ll want to hurry and get your tickets for the ending of Perry’s current Vegas residency, Play at the Resorts World Theater.

This “greatest hits” residency is more than just a live version of a classic greatest hits album. The show takes you deep into “Perry Playland” and lets you experience life through the eyes of this unique performer. We have come to expect nothing less than total immersion into a fantasy world from Katy Perry, and this show delivers on that and Perry’s incredible live vocals. Her show is an homage to Katy Perry’s Aunt and Grandma — who worked for years at Stardust, the casino that formerly occupied the location where Resorts World currently stands. The seamstress and the showgirl (respectively) greatly influenced Perry and her performance style, and she makes sure we’ll never forget the glitz, glamor, and sequins of ages past. Combine this with her animated mind’s eye, and you have a residency that will go down in history.

Location: Resorts World Theater

Date: July 28-29; Aug. 2, 4, 5, 9, 11-12; Oct. 4, 6, 7, 11, 13-14, 31; Nov. 1, 3-4

Garth Brooks: Plus One

You always remember a Garth Brooks concert, so make your first one memorable. Whether you’re a lifelong Country fanatic or just love a chance to belt out Friends in Low Places karaoke style, no other Country artist in the world performs quite like this legend, so seeing him on stage at the Colosseum is a must. Seeing a stadium-level show in such an intimate venue (yes, 5000 seats qualifies as intimate in Las Vegas) is a treat, especially since the show is a long one — two and a half hours of pure, undiluted Garth Brooks fun.

Brooks doesn’t take himself too seriously, which makes him unique among Vegas performers. He’s always ready to share a joke with the audience and the stage with several guest artists. This show also features several of the best-loved covers in history: Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Otis Redding, James Taylor, and more. It’s an informal experience as these residencies go, and we expect it to be a warm one.

Location: The Colosseum, Caesars Palace.

Dates:  July 6, 8-9, 13, 15-16, 20, 22-23; Nov. 29; Dec. 1-2, 6, 8-9, 13, 15-16

Get tickets from The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, SeatGeek, StubHub, Ticketmaster, or Vividseats.
