“I’m hungover again, I went out with my friends. They said it be fine to get out of my mind, now I’m stuck in my bed. Gonna bail on my plans so I can sit here and cry. And think of the time 2009 when I said the wrong thing. But, I remind myself that it’s okay, you can’t feel the love without the pain.” – lyrics

‘Good Days Bad Days’ finds Anna Straker and Gabrielle Aplin reassuring listeners that the bad times will pass away for better times. Eventually, dark nights turn to brighter days, and we can’t experience love without experiencing pain. Therefore, listeners must realize that they will persevere in one piece after it’s all said and done.

The music video, filmed over the past two years, features raw footage of Straker and Aplin. Also, the video reflects their real lives while revealing true moments of happiness and sadness experienced by both artists.

“Can’t feel the sun without the rain.”

“I wrote ‘Good Days Bad Days’ during the recovery from my sexual assault. It is a kind of positive affirmation to help center and ground yourself on days when your mental health gets the better of you. I want to remind people of their best moments to help them through their worst ones. I actually recorded the vocal for this on the day I was fired from my job. I want this EP to really showcase the issues surrounding mental health with honesty and sincerity, as I know so many people that suffer. I hope it helps to know that we all experience these ‘growing pains’.” – Anna Straker

Anna Straker’s trajectory demonstrates that artists can flourish against the contrasting experiences of good and bad days. She earned a big break in her teens when producer Mike Spencer (Years & Years, Emeli Sandé) discovered her and invited her to contribute to projects including Rudimental. That in turn resulted in the release of her debut EP, entitled, “Serious”. After some time away from the spotlight, Straker has returned in style with a single-minded rush of electronica-inspired escapism.

“I’ve always admired Anna as both a producer and writer, as well as an artist. And I’m really happy to be featuring on ‘GDBD’. I loved the song as soon as I heard it!” – Gabrielle Aplin stated

“Here’s to the good days, to the bad days. To the breakups and the birthdays. Here’s to the best days, to the worst days. ‘Cause I know that I’ll be okay.” – lyrics

‘Good Days, Bad Days’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the song possesses lush instrumentation flavored with an alternative-pop aroma. Furthermore, “Good Days Bad Days” follows hot on the heels of Anna Straker’s “London Knows” single. Both songs will be featured on her upcoming EP, entitled, “Growing Pains”, set to be released in November 2020.
