Amaroun recently admitted, “I wrote ‘Dopamine’ about all the minuscule euphoric moments that keep my ADHD brain hooked throughout the day. Here’s a list of some of mine, I’d love people to let me know the ones that come to their mind when listening: When you wake up on a summer’s morning; Just got that new job; Just quit your sh*t job; You Just got out of a bad relationship; You just met the love of your life; They gave you extra chips you didn’t order, and they didn’t charge you; You started something new; Just got your tax return without realizing it; You got overpaid – they didn’t notice; Finally figuring out how to do something you’ve been trying to learn for ages; Pasta. The list goes on [and on]. In dark times focus on the little things that are ‘going your way’ to help you through life’s big challenges.”

“Lovely feeling to be breathing”

“A chemical messenger in the brain that plays a crucial role in motivation, reward, and pleasure. It is associated with feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, as well as regulating movement, mood, and attention. What’s it called?” — Amaroun asked

Amaroun’s music is a mix of kaleidoscopic tones and silky-smooth vocals that will take you on the deliciously sweet journey of a life lived at the intersections of culture and identity and celebrates Blackness, Queerness, and Womanhood in all its complexity and glory. Amaroun’s absolutely mesmerizing live show is a heartfelt expression of and a battle cry for more Black, Queer joy.

So far, Amaroun has appeared on BBC’s Dragons Den, played on BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins), and recently played the main stage at Tramlines this summer.
