Xelaine is a talented R&B/Soul singer outta Rancho, but currently, she’s based in Los Angeles, California. Not too long ago, she released “Perf”, a catchy House song with Alternative/Pop appeal.

We interviewed Xelaine regarding her latest single.

Xelaine

What’s life like in Los Angeles?

Xelaine: Fast! Ha-ha. And unpredictable.

Who are some of your influences?

X: Struggles, ways people have gotten through them and exceeded in life. Powerful people!

Tell us about your new single.

Perf is a song about trying to get a person to understand how devoted you are to them. Even if they believe you are right for them or not.” – X

“Perf” is part of an upcoming EP. Tell us about it.

X: The EP is called “Monument”. It’s a collection of songs that express major impacts in my life, both negative and positive. I feel the things I went through were monumental moments in my life. Each song represents that. The highs and lows…it’s an experience.

What would you say is your greatest obstacle?

X: Defeat! Ah-ah! Defeat was my greatest obstacle. Feeling helpless, having no one, and overcoming that. Also, continuing to overcome everything that comes in a day.

You recently performed at SXSW. Tell us about that experience.
