“This song related the realization that after many failed attempts at romance, perhaps the problem is catching feelings too quickly. It’s a Frankenstein song written over the course of a year of different romantic stints, finally, all married together after noticing the overlapping melodic and lyrical themes.” – riah explained

‘Too Fast’ tells a gloomy tale about a young woman who shares a fading relationship with her significant other. Apparently, all she desires is time and affection, but lately, all she gets is ‘goodbye, thank you.’ The more she stands next to her partner, the more she gets sicker. With a heavy heart, she tells her companion, “There’s resistance in your kiss, boy, there’s a tension in your eyes. Why you gotta drift apart? Only come out after dark.”

‘Too Fast’ contains ear-pleasing vocals, tuneful melodies, and a problematic-relationship-based narrative that will resonate well with fans of Daniel Caesar, Omar Apollo, and Ari Lennox. The emotional tune possesses melodic drums and horn-laden instrumentation flavored with neo-soul and contemporary R&B elements. Furthermore, “Too Fast” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from riah in the near future as she continues to release new music.

“Every day I put on my protection; this big world is full of cruel people like you.”
