Liz Lokre (pronounced lock-ree) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a lovely contemporary R&B tune, entitled, “One”.

Liz Lokre – “One” single

“When times are getting tough will you hold me down? When the color fades will you stick around? ‘Cause it aint’ all glitter, I’m sweet but I’m bitter. I don’t ask for much reassurance that you gon’ lift me up when my world is falling. I put in overtime, all the time. The least you could do is be the one I can run to.” – lyrics

‘One’ tells a heartfelt tale of a young woman who wants to know if her significant other is someone who she can run to during problematic times. Apparently, she feels like she’s living a life on the run. Therefore, she needs her companion by her side, even though her partner might be scared and unprepared. Later, she admits that she will do whatever it takes to make things work if her partner commits to not letting them fade away.

‘One’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and heart-shaped melodies. Also, the emotional tune possesses melodic instrumentation scented with a warm contemporary R&B aroma.

“‘One’ is about the restoration we find in one another.”– Liz Lokre

Liz Lokre has been writing and performing since the age of 12. She grew up singing in church and winning music competitions across North America. During this time, her father booked live rock music acts in his native country Ireland. While her Trinidadian mother traveled the world as an Indian dancer. Also, It was her grandmother who in fact pioneered a popular pre-Bollywood style of Indian dance.

Furthermore, “One” serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear on Lokre’s latest EP, entitled, “Water”.

Although Lokre continues to travel regularly to LA and beyond, it’s in Toronto that she continues to hone her craft. For the past few years, she has been collaborating with producer and guitarist Adrian X (Drake, The Weeknd, PARTYNEXTDOOR). Together they have created a sound that speaks to LIZ’s message and reason for singing (to unify and uplift).

We recommend adding Liz Lokre’s “One” single to your personal playlist. Also, let us know how you feel about it in the comment section below.
