Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, today released a short film, “Back to the Beach,” with Vevo DSCVR Artist of the Year, Gigi Perez (@gigi4perez). Vevo’s DSCVR Artist of the Year is named in celebration of the release of their annual Vevo DSCVR ‘Artists to Watch’ list. “Back to the Beach” follows the release of bespoke live performances of “Fable” and “Sugar Water” off her album, “At the Beach, In Every Life.” Gigi previously worked with Vevo earlier this year for DSCVR performances of “Fable” and “Sailor Song.”

Shot in Palm Beach, the film begins at Village Music Cafe in Palm Beach, where Gigi started her career performing at open mics. It quickly became her second home, thanks to the kindness of its owners. “One day, I drove by the mall and noticed that there was an open mic,” Gigi muses. “Ever since that day, I walked through the doors, the owners, Steven and Donna, took me in as their own kid – their musical child.” She credits the environment for helping her grow her confidence and enthusiasm for sharing her music and expresses her amazement from performing in such a small cafe, then, to now performing 65 shows in 2025 for over 700,000 people.

Gigi adds, “I think the first few years of putting music out under my artist name, there were a lot of constant roadblocks. Like, every single day, there was a door that you opened, and behind it was like a little fist that punched you in the face. But this year, it was different. Things started to just flow and happen in a way that I just haven’t experienced before…I’m just so grateful.”
