Fast-rising future pop artist Maria Domark (@maria_domark) recently released the dark, house-inspired VIP mix of her recent single “is this what you wanted?”. The futuristic, self-directed visual which follows Domark’s journey as she confronts, and ultimately transcends, the shadow of a past toxic relationship – stepping out of a neon-lit elevator with purpose, a visual embodiment of moving forward and reclaiming her narrative.

“With the original feeling more soft and vulnerable, Crimson Child and I decided to make another version that would lead the song darker and more electronic, which is a direction I want to keep exploring,” shares Domark on the reinterpretation. “What surprised both of us is how strong it felt, and we couldn’t help but make a full music video for it.”

Where the original introduced the most intimate and vulnerable side of Domark yet and found her processing heartache and reclaiming her power and identity, “is this what you wanted? (Crimson Child VIP)” surges with heavy basslines and futuristic synths that continue to push the boundaries of future-pop with unapologetic authenticity and a bold, experimental sound. “This song is about processing emotions after a breakup, reflecting on toxic dynamics and the subsequent journey of healing and moving on,” adds Domark.

Further signaling a transformative new chapter for Domark in which she steps into her own as an artist, producer, and songwriter, inhabiting the persona she once only projected in her previous releases, “is this what you wanted?” blends her past as a guitar-playing teenager with her electronic-leaning present into a honed-in expression.

With her confidence on full display, the track stands as a testament to her resilience and artistic evolution, striking a balance between the emotional depth of the original pop ballad and the futuristic energy of her fiercely independent debut EP “Flawless,” which included standout track “Mieway,” was mixed and mastered by chart-topping engineer Scott Banks, and drew early comparisons to Grimes, Poppy, Ashnikko, and Dorian Electra. “is this what you wanted? (Crimson Child VIP)” also follows the release of 2024 pop-punk single “MEAN.”
