Lupa J releases a music video for her “You’re in My Headphones” single

Lupa J  (Imogen Jones) is a singer-songwriter/instrumentalist from Australia. Not too long ago, she released a music video for “You’re in My Headphones”, an infectious goth dream-pop tune from her upcoming debut album, entitled, “Swallow Me Whole”.

“The song is about being completely and utterly consumed by a feeling of joy over a new crush. We then came up with this idea to create a clip focused around feelings of ecstasy and possession, bordering on madness—referencing scenes from ‘Posession’ (1981) and ‘Suspiria’ (2018).” – Lupa J

The Angus Burns-directed video was filmed between an underpass and a dance studio.

The audiovisual depicts Lupa J experiencing the conflicting energy that consumes us when falling in love.

‘You’re In My Headphones’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and upbeat instrumentation flavored with indie-pop and electro-dance elements.

“Gus oversaw improvised movement by dancer Jennifer Poon and me before editing the two scenes together, matching movements in the shots to create the sense of interconnection. It becomes hard to discern whether I’m enjoying this state of possession or finding it painful, this fine line is the central idea of the project.” – Lupa J

At the age of 15, Lupa J posted three songs on her Soundcloud account. Shortly afterward, she received the international attention of music tastemakers.

Since then, she has graduated from Unearthed High and has proven herself to be a talented songwriter and producer. Also, she has three EPs and a plethora of impressive tours under her belt.

We recommend adding Lupa J’s “You’re in My Headphones” single to your personal playlist. Also, let us know how you feel about it in the comment section below.
