“Sometimes your own company is the best company no matter how good looking, funny, and smart the other person may be. Even if I had a nice date, it can be good to take yourself home at the end of it!  That’s kind of what the song is about.” – Zikai stated

Zikai is the next Swedish music export phenomenon. She has been referred to as the Swedish version of Ariana Grande. This makes Zikai one of Sweden’s most interesting artists and songwriters. She has a high ambition to build an international audience with her music and will be releasing a lot more records in 2020, including a mixtape this fall. Not too long ago, she performed “Champagne For Breakfast” at national television shows called ‘Nyhetsmorgon’ and ‘Allsång på Skansen’ with over 1.6 million viewers.

Zikai wrote and recorded “Champagne For Breakfast” in sessions with the Grammy-winning GRADES (Dua Lipa, H.E.R.) and Max Wolfgang (BTS, Ed Sheeran). Furthermore, “Champagne for Breakfast” serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can hear on Zikai’s debut EP, entitled, “Make You Mine”. The seven-track project range from the booming energy of “Liquor Kisses” to the elegantly stripped-back “Do You Love Me Still?”. Also, the album features Zikia’s breakthrough track, “Beach Day”, which hit five-million streams online via Spotify.

Zikai - “Make You Mine EP cover

“The songs come from love, my relationship to love, and my love for other people. That may not always be healthy, but you learn a lot about self-love. I’ve been in relationships as I wrote these songs, and love has been a big part of my life. I guess a bit too big for my own good!” – Zikai

‘Make You Mine’ is a potent cocktail of contemporary production and live instrumentation, which brings Zikai’s stories of the ups, downs, and insecurities of relationships to life. The EP’s roots lay in Zikai’s childhood. Born and raised in Stockholm, her older siblings surrounded her with the hits of the early 2000s MTV, from Rihanna to Omarion. Also, there was a distinct African influence too, from her Ivorian father’s love of the influential Afropop group, Magic System.
