In his own words, Yoko Gold explains, “‘Escape From Limbo’ was my exit out of a dark world of indecision. I wanted to use this EP like a map. I knew if I could overcome my need to be perfect, I could get to the next stage in my career and life. I was blessed to work with my fellow Toronto native 905Luca. We just wanted to sound like us and give the people an experience they’ve never felt before. A lot of this EP was made throughout the east coast of Canada. We went wherever our spirits lead us. Music should always be fun and that’s what we had making this project. I would like this music to speak to people who are just like me – going with the wind driving with no destination or expectation other than the pursuit of happiness which I think is our God-given right. I want people to know that fear is not an enemy. It is a motivator, a compass, and a guiding light ready to push you off the cliff.”
“Escape From Limbo” as a whole focuses on the duality of Yoko’s character. One side of Yoko struggles with self-doubt and indecision, while his other side pursues confidence, self-awareness, and spiritual enlightenment. His journey begins with imbalance and uncertainty and ends when he breaks through the barriers of his mind, and by doing so can escape limbo and become who he is meant to be.
“Escape From Limbo” was produced by longtime collaborator Luca Polizzi (905Luca) and also includes contributions from Aaron Paris, Ben Foran, Chris “CVRE” Kim; mixed by Elijah Marrett-Hitch; and mastered by Kristian Montano.
