Vevo Rolls Out Branded Content Series: “Vevo Origin Stories” Starring GRAMMY®-Nominated Artist Shaboozey

The Vevo Studios production explores Shaboozey’s (@shaboozey) journey as a self-made artist via never-before-seen interviews and exclusive live performances released throughout the week.

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, today released “Vevo Origin Stories,” a long-form branded original content series starring Shaboozey, presented by Intuit TurboTax. Kicking off this week with a special live performance of his single “Good News,” followed by a performance of “Highway” (off his RIAA-Gold album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going”), the series wraps up with a 12-minute short film that weaves intimate artist commentary into the performances.

About working with Vevo, Shaboozey says, “Making a short film of this kind was a new experience for me, and I collaborated with the Vevo team to bring my vision to life. They valued my creative ideas and made sure the piece felt authentic to my style. I’m excited to show a new take on my music through these performances, and I hope my fans connect with another side of me and find inspiration in my story.”

In the “Vevo Origin Stories” short film, Shaboozey talks about the way his music has evolved from a genre-hybrid approach to a greater focus on Country, which has won him several recognitions, including Country Music Association (CMA), GRAMMY®, and MTV Video Music Award (VMA) nominations, as well as a People’s Choice Country Award win. He reflects on his life and 10-year journey as an artist – from his upbringing, influences, musical history, and how the feeling of being an outsider shaped him and his sound.

Hailing from Woodbridge, Virginia, Shaboozey draws inspiration from a variety of genres – particularly Hip-Hop, R&B, Country, Rock, and Americana – and credits the area with allowing him to blend these elements to create his unique sound.

“Virginia breeds really creative individuals,” says Shaboozey. “We live outside of everything a lot of the time. We’re able to have this freedom to explore different soundscapes and different environments because it’s not a unified sound in Virginia. So, I feel like it’s a perfect place for a blend (that maybe, to others, couldn’t really cross and make sense) to happen there. I feel like music was ready for something new.”

In 2024, Shaboozey was featured on Beyoncé‘s album, “Cowboy Carter,” and soon after, released his 7x Platinum hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which scored a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a record-breaking 19 weeks. His momentum continued throughout the year, performing at the Chicago Bears–Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day NFL game halftime show, the CMA Awards, and NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He topped off a whirlwind year with five GRAMMY® Award nominations, including ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best New Artist.’

“A Bar Song (Tipsy) [Official Visualizer]” was also Vevo’s most-watched music video in the US, having garnered over 82.9 million views, the first time in Vevo’s history that a Country video had topped Vevo’s US Top 10.

Shaboozey says, “I’m very proud of my team and what we’ve been able to do, you know, because a lot of these things we’ve been doing are, in hindsight, impossible. I’ve always been someone that I believe in. This is not new…Ever since I was a kid, if you want to achieve anything great, it better be impossible.”
