“I had a little melody in my head, no lyrics. That’s when I should have been doing some schoolwork, but I’m going to be honest. I had slipped up in this one class, and I was like, ‘I’m going to write a song instead of doing this work right now.’ And I couldn’t think of nothing. I just had a little melody. The next day, I was freestyling in the bathroom, and my homie was recording me. I was like, ‘I got to think of something.’ I was like, ‘Jenni-Jenni-Jennifer.’ I was like ‘cool’ ‘cause I had seen this girl Jenny that I thought was cute. So the song isn’t about a girl named Jennifer. It’s about some girl. I’m not going to say her name. It’s another girl in that class, though. But I seen Jennifer, and I was like, ‘Well, Jenny’s cute.’ And I was like, ‘She don’t got to know.’ So I was like, ‘Jenni-Jenni-Jennifer.'” — Trinidad Cardona stated
The Yung Pedro-directed video finds Trinidad Cardona riding a bike while singing a song to a girl named Jennifer. Apparently, Cardona messed up, due to infidelity, and now he’s apologizing and wants Jennifer back.
‘Jennifer’ contains a relatable narrative, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and hip-hop elements. Furthermore, “Jennifer” serves as a wonderful introduction to what listeners can expect to hear from Trinidad Cardona in the near future.
Trinidad Cardona skyrocketed to internet fame after releasing his “Jennifer” single. Shortly afterward, he signed with Island Records. Also, during that pivotal time, he released his “Jennifer” EP. The project included his “Ready” and “You Are Mine” singles. Also, after absorbing dancehall music (Vybz Kartel, Tommy Lee, and Popcaan), Cardona moved on to Michael Jackson. Currently, he is more interested in listening to the likes of Grover Washington, Jr. and Jerry Bergonzi.
