Tom Boy (a.k.a. Nate Daniels) is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, he released an encouraging pop tune, entitled, “Thunder”.
Tom Boy – “Thunder” single
“I know that everything that’s been flying your way seems unfair. Tonight, I’m scared. Not about the things that might change. But how you’re doing out there tonight when you hear that thunder. When everything feels like it’s going under, I’m right here when you hear those sirens. When everything feels like it’s going silent, I’m still here.” – lyrics
‘Thunder’ is Nate Daniels’s first offering since Tom Boy became a solo project. The song is a dedication to those who feel they have not been heard and the voices that have broken through the noise. Also, the song is dedicated to the allies who create space for the wrongfully marginalized communities in the world.
“In these last couple of months, I started questioning my relationship with social media and the kind of information I was taking in on a daily basis. Whether it was the pandemic, a protest for civil rights, or the broad-sweeping corruption among some of the global elite. I felt like nothing I could say or do would make any of it better. After solemn conversations with friends, we came to the conclusion that it was best to spend less time consuming social media and restart a dialogue in our own communities. To own our mistakes, forgive ourselves in order to heal, and do better as we move forward.” – Tom Boy stated
Tom Boy’s lyrics ruminates on the nature of addiction, heartbreak, and self-discovery. He writes with strong pop-sensibilities and arrangement, only to smash them against punk-rock lyricism that calls to action anybody he can wake.
‘Thunder’ contains a relatable narrative, pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies. Also, the likable tune possesses vibrant instrumentation flavored with a strong commercial pop aroma.
