In their own words, Sun Centauri explains, “We started working on this project in the winter of 2023, with the hazy goal of creating songs that felt like falling from the glittering darkness of space into the density of Earth. We talked about aliens a lot. As we started experimenting, spacy ideas started solidifying into a sound: weird layers of synth, strings, and vocal chops floating over big drums and growling bass, stacks of vocal harmonies morphing into pocketed cadences. We looked for what made the little hairs on our arms stand up. As our loops started expanding into songs, we focused on creating a sense of movement, or flux, between sections and ideas. The lyrics followed the feeling of a phase shift, and we wrote a lot about relationships that were on the brink of a new form. It was a long but fulfilling process, and we learned so much about what we want to sound and feel like as a duo.”
