“‘This Is Lagos’ is a project that means everything to me. Since I started music as an independent artist, I have been through many highs and lows. For a few years, I contemplated stopping altogether and doing something else. When I least expected it, I met my manager Jay, and decided to take one final shot at making it onto the scene.
We went to Lagos with the intention of making a few songs and seeing where it would go. However, while I was there, I fell back in love with the whole process, from listening to beats to then writing the music and recording it. I worked with incredible artist producers and creatives that further inspired me to give it my all. I had so much fun making this music and I truly believe it’s my best body of work yet.
I see a lot of personal growth in myself and I hope my fans and people that have been listening also see that growth and evolution to my sound. I wanted to make a body of work that truly showed a fusion of my Caribbean roots, and the amazing culture and vibes of Lagos, Nigeria. I believe that this EP shows that blend of the two sounds. It shows my range and diversity and that I am not just capable of making one kind of music, but I can adapt to different settings and create vibes for all sorts of listeners.
Tigua is an uptown boy with an island vibe. His musical expedition led him to Lagos, where he immersed himself in the vibrant Nigerian music scene and culture. He had the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s most talented producers and artists, resulting in a dynamic and eclectic body of work from the energetic beats of “ LAGOS” to the heartfelt melodies of “YOU,” each track offering a unique listening experience.

Tigua came into the limelight in 2018 after deciding to move back home from Miami to find his sound. He took his mixed sounds of hip-hop, R&B, and Pop, and blended those elements with dancehall and Afro-swing to make something unique.
