“If I was suddenly always right or had the job of my dreams and my life was all figure out – what would everyone think if I painted a picture of delusion? Or if I was the coolest at my school reunion? Would there even be applause? I wish I didn’t care. Could I just believe that the way things are is just fine? Opinions everywhere. It would just be easier if we moved on with our lives.” – lyrics

‘Wish I Didn’t Care’ tells an intriguing tale about a young woman who finds her friend’s old notes in her childhood bedroom. Apparently, it’s been 10 years since she last saw her friend. Later, she admits, “I still hope those notes are true.” Her wishful statement indicates that she still cares about her friend – even though she has successfully moved on with her life.

“You know I’ll always have your back when you don’t have mine.”

“I wrote this song when I was processing a friendship that seemed like I was giving and giving and not receiving anything in return. The words ‘I wish I didn’t care’ just kept coming to my mind, and I wrote the song around that line. This song is about all the petty things in life that consume my mental energy that I wish didn’t.” – Taylor Ingred explained

‘Wish I Didn’t Care’ contains a friendship-based narrative and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Maggie Rogers, Lennon Stella, and Clairo. The likable tune possesses vibrant instrumentation flavored with indie-pop and alternative-rock elements. Furthermore, “Wish I Didn’t Care” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from Taylor Ingred’s debut EP, entitled, “Table Talk.”
