SUMiT (@sumitmusicofficial) and Millyz (@millyz), two lyrically driven rappers from Massachusetts—SUMiT hailing from Worcester and Millyz from Cambridge—recently dropped their soulful, narrative-rich single “Really the 1,” released through SUMiT // DNT Entertainment and distributed by The Orchard, a Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary.

The track’s performance-style music video is sleek and purposeful, perfectly mirroring the song’s core. Stripping away gimmicks, it emphasizes raw presence, sharp delivery, and meticulous aesthetics. With clean visuals, precise camera work, and commanding confidence, the video doesn’t beg for attention—it demands it.
“Really the 1” finds SUMiT and Millyz exchanging introspective, incisive verses packed with clever wordplay and emotional depth. The lyrics explore a complex emotional terrain, confessions of dishonesty, internal battles with ego, fleeting pleasures, and the desire to be seen as more than a product of one’s environment. Furthermore, the narrative captures a recklessness laced with self-awareness, while the line “We both really the 1 though” balances the braggadocio with a grounded humility.
Millyz brings his signature clarity and gravitas to the final verse, anchoring the track with a seasoned presence that elevates SUMiT without overshadowing him. It’s a lyrical duel in which no one loses, only listeners win. At the core of “Really the 1” lies a powerful truth: there are no limits to what’s possible. Beyond showcasing lyrical skill or regional pride, the song embodies momentum, purpose, and the conviction to move forward with confidence.
SUMiT
In his own words, SUMiT explains, “This song is the culmination of so many things coming together. Starting with Cold Spring Motel, a producer and engineer extraordinaire I met and worked with for a couple of years at Phoenix Down Studios. He told me he had started working with Millz, who every fan of bars knows is one of the nicest rappers doing it right now. So, I took one of the beats he made and wrote something I thought would be a salute to Millyz, represent our home state Massachusetts, and also make a statement about who I am as an artist, just in case the opportunity ever presented itself for us to work together. Fast forward like 10-11 months, that’s exactly what happened. After shooting several music videos with Dom Bruno aka Tanj, who’s Millyz’ videographer and friend, he made the connection for us to all get in the studio and get the song and video done. So, everything worked out, Millyz flamed his verse like I knew he would, the final product is a whole vibe and a very easy listen, and a milestone in my career. Super grateful to everybody involved!”

The sheer diversity of his soundscape distinguishes his music.
