Embrace Empowerment with Mega’s “I Am Enough” Song

Mega (@megaishername) is a genre-bending singer-songwriter from North London. Not too long ago, she shared her powerful anthem “I Am Enough,” a bold and moving declaration of independence and empowerment. With a delivery that is both raw and refined, Mega explores the journey of embracing one’s authentic self in a world that often encourages the opposite.

I Am Enough

In her own words, Mega explains, “‘I Am Enough’ is a statement of truth and self-realization that I am already everything I need to be. It is about letting go of other people’s expectations and knowing and believing that I am not equal to the opinions of others, especially when who I am is rejected by those who have another idea of who they think I am or should be. It’s important to remember who we are and that we are enough in those moments. It’s a brave thing to dare to live your own life, on your own terms, with your own values (even more so when that comes with social costs). I’ve always believed that our uniqueness is our superpower. This song is a reminder to show up for ourselves in our lives every day, just as we were created to be. We are enough just as we are. We live one life here on earth, and the best way to live it is as our unique and wonderful selves.”

Since her breakout single “Chariot,” in 2018, Mega’s won media acclaim and support tours with Hozier and Self Esteem and performed alongside the Teskey Brothers—proving her the UK’s latest breakout artist and one to watch in 2025.

Next month, Mega will perform at the Southbank Centre’s iconic contemporary music festival, Meltdown, with a headline show on June 20th. The 30th edition of the festival is curated by Little Simz and includes artists like Lola Young, Jon Batiste, The Streets, Sasha Keable, Ghetts, and “Queen of Afrobeat” Tiwa Savage.

Mega is a voice of power, vulnerability, and radiant resilience—an artist whose journey from silence to song has come to define her uniquely empowering soul sound. Born and raised in North London with Ugandan roots, the British singer-songwriter possesses a voice that can both soothe and uplift—a vocal presence as rich as her storytelling. Like the greats, she first discovered her passion for singing in youth gospel choirs (the legendary St. Mary’s alma mater of Leona Lewis and Little Simz).

Just as her music career was gaining momentum, Mega was silenced by a mysterious vocal condition that left her unable to sing for two years. During this time, she turned inward—earning a degree in Psychology. Her dissertation explored the intersection of self-identity and media portrayals of Black women—work that, like her songs, sought truth and healing. When her voice returned, so did her purpose, culminating in the release of her debut single “Chariot,” a soulful anthem of hope that has since garnered tens of millions of streams.

Mega’s EPs Future Me, Colour Your World, and Honour and Glorychronicle a journey of healing and empowerment. Blending soul, pop, gospel, and African rhythmic influences, her music tackles self-worth, mental health, and transformation with a rare tenderness. From the buoyant affirmations of “Learning (To Trust Myself)” to the defiant clarity of “Don’t Get Too Close,” Mega crafts songs that resonate deeply and speak to universal themes of growth and self-discovery.
