Maya Malkin – “Honey” single
“‘Honey’ is the calm before the storm. Probably the most lighthearted on the album, and one of the only songs with a positive twist. ‘Honey’ hints at the issues that the rest of the album tackles without yet understanding the darkness that lies ahead.” – Maya Malkin explained
‘Honey’ tells an intriguing tale about a young woman who desires sweet love from her significant other. Apparently, she needs a vacation and doesn’t want to hear her companion complaining or talking too much about material things. Therefore, she tells her partner, “I don’t care about your car and your money. All I care about…can I get a little honey?”
‘Honey’ contains a sweet narrative, tuneful melodies, and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of renforshort, Tove Styrke, and Julia Michaels. The likable tune possesses drum-laden instrumentation flavored with commercial and contemporary pop elements. Furthermore, “Honey” is featured on Maya Malkin’s latest nine-track project, entitled, “Congratulations,” set to be released soon.
Maya Malkin makes pop with a purpose. She entered the scene with her band, Motel Raphael. In 2020, when the world felt more apocalyptic than ever, Maya launched her solo project with her first single, “Hostage.” Listeners can hear her music on Virgin Radio, CBC, KiSS, and during a commercial or two, where she dabbles in the realm of jingle writing and voice acting.
