Liv Charette is a rising Nashville-based singer-songwriter from Canada. Not too long ago, she released an arcade-themed video for her “Game Over” single.
Liv Charette – “Game Over” music video
“Left and right, up and down, you had your turn. Cockiness, now you get what you deserve. Immature, stupid boys get on my nerves. Suck it up, yeah, you’ve got so much to learn. Play on player, I’m logging off. Can’t lose ‘cause I’ve already won. You’re face down, I don’t feel bad, baby. Oh no, look what you’ve done. Tough love, game over.” – lyrics
‘Game Over’ tells an interesting tale about a young woman who finds herself in a fading relationship with a guy who plays a lot of games. Apparently, she thought they were heading in the right direction, but all along, her partner had another agenda. Later, she tells him in a stern way, “You thought you had it under control, stupid boy, thinking I wouldn’t know.”
‘Game Over’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with music lovers who are into relationship drama. The likable tune possesses springy bass and electric guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with contemporary-pop and alternative undertones. Furthermore, “Game Over” follows hot on the heels of Liv Charette’s previously released single, entitled, “Red Flags White.”
“Really too bad you lost the one life that you had.”
“‘Game Over’ is about the point where you realize you are worth so much more than what someone has put you through. It is the perfect sequel to ‘Red Flags White’ which centers on staying casually in a bad relationship, despite all the red flags. ‘Game Over’ is the ultimate kiss-off to anyone who has done you wrong! I’ve been a huge video game fan forever and I wanted to write a song about the end of a relationship as if it were the end of a video game.” – Liv Charette explained
Liv Charette grew up with big Olympic dreams. A former figure skater, she spent 11 years on the ice before discovering her passion for singing. After the first time she sang in front of a crowd, she traded her skates for a microphone.
Liv’s viral success on TikTok with her Tiny Mic series, “One Word Song Challenge,” landed her a feature on New York Magazine’s The Strategist. Also, her weekly Liv: In the Moment podcast, the first of its kind on RIFF, has included guests who are influencers, gamers, recording artists, music industry executives, celebrity makeup artists, and more. In October 2021, Liv was invited to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to celebrate Tina Turner’s induction and launch the museum’s latest digital series.
“Can’t lose ‘cause I’ve already won.”
