LeMieux – “SNIP” Song

“SNIP” conveys a powerful message about cutting ties and personal empowerment. Through evocative lyrics, the song reflects on the journey of letting go of toxic relationships, emphasizing that self-preservation is paramount. The recurring phrase “Snip, cut you off” serves as a reminder that sometimes, it’s necessary to sever connections that hinder our growth.
“SNIP” encapsulates feelings of betrayal and realization, particularly in the lines “Understand if I could, you’d be my man, but I can’t; I snipped your plan ’cause I found out about her, now I’m out of reach.” These vivid expressions illustrate the pain of discovering deceit and the liberation that comes from cutting off those who do not deserve our loyalty.
LeMieux asserts, “I was saving myself now I’m richer in peace.” This line encapsulates the journey of self-discovery and personal empowerment, highlighting how important it is to prioritize one’s mental and emotional well-being. Lemieux’s artistry shines as she conveys that breaking free from toxic ties can lead to newfound strength and clarity. As listeners, we are encouraged to reflect on our relationships and the importance of knowing when to ‘snip’ for our growth and happiness.

In her own words, LeMieux explains, “‘SNIP’ was one of the last songs I wrote with my ex before finding out he was cheating on me with someone he met on Bumble. We made music together. He got me to sing again after I hung up my microphone in 2016. He was supposed to be my partner in love and art, but he was lying to us both. She came forward with receipts, and I walked away, and then I cut him off emotionally, energetically, and musically. Then I finished the song, which now hits differently. I found a new producer, rebuilt this track from scratch, and reclaimed the story.”
Overall, “SNIP” is about that moment when the truth cuts deep enough to wake you up. The song is bold, dark pop, layered with rage, sarcasm, and savage girl energy.
