Laolu is a South East London-based R&B/Soul singer-songwriter. Not too long ago, she released a music video for “So Right”, the third and final single from her upcoming EP, entitled, “All In Me”.
Laolu – “So Right”
“Never felt like this before now. It’s Mercury in retrograde. You broke through and my walls are coming down. I don’t want nothing to change. I just wanna be all you mean to me you won’t feel alone not ever.” – lyrics
The Marcus Hessenberg-directed video finds Laolu posted up in front of hungryhouse. She wears a Crayola-colored brown fuzzy coat over a purple-themed gym outfit with an African medallion dangling from her neck.
She’s happy and sings joyously about a new love in her life. As she strolls gently down a vacant block in her neighborhood in South London, the sunlight reveals her purple eyeshadow, colorful nails, and gold looping earrings. She feels free and expresses her love for her new love in public by singing and moving her body in a rhythmic way.
“I liked the carefree elements we tried to capture in the video. It was very cathartic for me, walking in the sun, and just being content and happy, and enjoying being free of any constraints or negativity. It allowed me to really be in the present and be in the moment of now, and relish this new lease of confidence I have as a black woman.” – Laolu stated about the video
“I enjoyed this video, it was out of my comfort zone, walking and dancing and enjoying the music, it was empowering and I hope this video will put people in good spirits, up and dancing too. It’s a feel good song, celebrating love, light and happiness. I’m celebrating myself, what I’ve overcome and looking forward to where I’m headed.” – Laolu adds
In conclusion, Laolu is a talented singer, one you should look out for in 2018 and beyond. Therefore, we recommend that you add her “So Right” single to your personal playlist.
