“Oh dear, I’m not here for nothing, I was made to love you. But I get a little nervous, I don’t think I’m worthy of you. You’re a goddess, baby, gotta keep it honest. So true, I wanna be 100 with ya, so I gotta come clean my queen. My history precedes me, I’ve been so greedy, baby. I’ve seen so many ladies, back in the day, I was misbehaving. I admit, I was a little crazy, but baby, you make me wanna break free.” – lyrics

‘Purify Me’ tells a sincere tale about a young guy who declares to her significant other that he will be the best version of himself. Apparently, he desires to do whatever it takes to make sure that the relationship he shares with his partner will last forever. Later, he tells his companion, “Be to me like God to the people. I need you to lead me unto the promised land.”

‘Purify Me’ contains a relatable narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of D’Angelo, Miguel, and Prince. The likable tune possesses melodic instrumentation flavored with neo-soul and contemporary R&B elements. Furthermore, “Purify Me” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear from Kuji Young in the near future as he continues to release new music.

“This life is a blessing and throughout my years, I’ve learned so many lessons.”

“‘Purify Me’ is about the cleansing of my soul through love. Once I met the woman of my dreams, my sins were washed away. I became a new man by confessing and healing with her. ‘Purify Me’ is more than a song, it’s a spiritual experience for all that listen. It tells a story of renewal and transformation through love. Furthermore, it was written and produced and recorded in my bedroom; and it’s amazing to see it out in the world for all to enjoy.” – Kuji Young explained

Kuji (KOO-gee) is derived from Kugichagulia, the second day of Kwanzaa (December 27), which symbolizes self-determination. Kuji, when used in Japanese Buddhism, means “nine symbolic cuts,” and refers to a variety of mantras that consist of nine syllables such as “I will bring it into existence.”

Over the last several years, Kuji Young has built a name as one of the top underground songwriters in Atlanta. Recently, he has been featured in Showtime’s “The Chi” and “Power Book II: GHOST.” His musical inspirations include Yasiin Bey, Sade Adu, Andre 3000, Ahmad Jamal, and Miguel.
