In his own words, Jip explains, “‘Una Corda’ mainly paints the emotion of heartbreak through the usage of two Una Corda pianos from Native Instruments and lyrics that tell the backstory. I think a piano played Una Corda is really interesting. 1. to listen to as the sonics are much softer and intimate, and 2. There are objectively less strings being played. I thought this was a good connection to humans and the emotion of heartbreak, whereby you lose a heartstring for every heartbreak, similar to the piano being played, Una Corda. I think a lot of people can relate to the emotion of heartbreak and felt this was my way of portraying it musically.”
Overall, “Una Corda” ignites a dialogue about love’s complexities and the powerful emotions tied to personal growth and heartbreak. The song serves as both a reminder and a comfort that broken hearts can indeed lead to beautiful transformations.

Jip (JP McNicholas) started playing the piano around 5 years old and continues to play every day. He loves working on new music containing the piano as the focal instrument used in his productions. He also loves writing and playing the piano in several different genres; however, he feels like pop, EDM, hip-hop, contemporary, and classical music are the areas where he can zone in.
Jip adds, “In addition to my piano background, I also have experience from the production side with a degree in Electronic Music Production & Sound Design from Berklee College of Music. The main DAWs that I use are Logic Pro and Ableton. The music I release across the digital streaming services all contain digital recordings of piano. I have never used a live acoustic piano in any of my productions, as I enjoy recording digitally on a keyboard and sound designing from there to create the perfect sound for whichever piece I may be working on.
I also live in an apartment in New York City and don’t have room for a real piano. But I like to tell myself the former is the real reason! My favorite samplers that I use are Native Instruments Kontakt 7. I think their Alicia Keys and Una Corda pianos are some of the best-sounding pianos around, and I enjoy being able to take these sounds “on the go” with productions on the road. I plan to continue to release music in several different genres and hope to grow an audience that appreciates the music I release to the world!”
