Jaclyn Bradley (@iamjaclynbradley) is a singer-songwriter from Lorain, Ohio. Not too long ago, she released a heartfelt contemporary country single, “Love like 1983.”

Maybe you lived it. Maybe your parents did. Maybe you’ve seen it in movies… if you’ve experienced the 1980s, you miss it. Love like 1983 is a polaroid snapshot of the way things used to be. In the time of AI, many of us have wistful affection for yesteryear, even if some long to know it for the first time.
Before Tinder, TikTok, and Spotify, there was an era when letterman’s jackets, mixed tapes, and high school sweethearts reigned. Instead of connecting on an app, it was Friday night lights, school dances, and shopping malls that sparked fated love and friendships that lasted a lifetime.

“Love like 1983” speaks to the universal nostalgia for a simpler time. Released by Jaclyn Bradley, the song remembers hand-written notes, faded jeans, and John Cusack films, the latter of which is nodded to by Bradley in the album cover as she boldly holds up a boombox. The vintage jacket pictured was made by international fashion designer Jevon Terance, also from Bradley’s hometown.

“Love like 1983” was written by Bradley along with Jessica Garvin and Derek Connell, and was produced in Nashville by Austin Moorhead (Carly Pierce, Parker McKay). Backup Vocals were added by Tim Smith, whose voice is also heard as backup on Sheryl Crow’s summer anthem Soak Up the Sun.
“To me, the 1980s were my childhood,” says Bradley. “My grandparents were alive, we played outside for hours, and everyone knew their neighbors. I wanted to capture the essence of that beautiful time in Love like 1983, and I’m so happy and honored to be a part of this musical collaboration that shares not only a song, but a feeling.”

“I hope this song will bring good memories to those who listen and help us all to move forward with an authenticity that still can be true if we let it.”
Bradley is known for her work on VH1, MTV, Bravo, HGTV, The Voice of Holland, Ireland’s Got Talent, and several films. She led the largest study in history to bring live music into the operating room (published in The Journal of Clinical Oncology) and is currently owner and director of Rock Town Music Academy in her hometown of Lorain, Ohio, voted best music instruction in the county.

An international performer, Jaclyn’s first language is music. A native of Lorain, Ohio, she has an opera degree from Indiana University. After graduation, she moved to New York City only 10 days before the 9-11 attacks. With the world in uncertainty (and her roommate an employee in one of the towers), Bradley picked up her guitar in the aftermath and started to write.
After recording an album with her New York-based band, Jaclyn moved West to Los Angeles to become a solo recording artist. She recorded two albums and toured the LA music scene as a singer/songwriter and as a back-up singer to Ty Stone (Kid Rock, Atlantic Records), Michael Satrazemis (The Walking Dead), and Gretchen Bonaduce (VH1), sang alongside Terri Nunn (Berlin), and recorded with Joshua Grange (Sheryl Crow, Brandi Carlile).

Not long after landing in California, Jaclyn was hired as a personal assistant to notorious “bad boy” celebrity, Danny Bonaduce. She filmed two seasons of the hit VH1 series, Breaking Bonaduce with Danny, and her original songs were licensed and performed live on the show. Since then, Jaclyn and her music have been featured on MTV, Bravo, TLC, HGTV, and in film.
In addition to writing and performing, Jaclyn is a board-certified music therapist. She led the largest music therapy study in history to research live music in surgery, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, one of the world’s premier high-impact medical journals. As a filmmaker, Jaclyn’s music videos and documentary film, Made of Gold, have been recognized globally. Her short film/music video, Love the Bodies We’re in, premiered at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood as an official selection in the Dances with Films festival.
