Easy Life is a UK-based alternative band consisting of five high school friends. Not too long ago, they performed their “Pockets” and “Frank” singles during their Vevo DSCVR ‘Artist to Watch 2019’ live session.
Easy Life – “Pockets”
“I’m trying to unlock doors with these musical keys. My friends puff trees, turn a Z to a G. Oh no, and all I do is twinkle the ivory keys. Indulgently, ’cause I do this for me, I know. And it just feels a little bit like somebody cut a hole in my pockets. ‘Cause I’ve been trying to do this right with no profits and the loss I can’t stop it.” – lyrics
Vevo DSCVR is an annual series which highlights artists who are shaping the future of music. One of these artists is Easy Life, a Leicester 5-piece, uniquely different from any other bands out there. On paper, you’d probably think their music would be difficult to listen to, but that isn’t the case. Once you press the play button, their alternative-pop sound is soothingly appetizing.
Check out Easy Life’s live video performance of their “Frank” single and you will further understand why Vevo included them in their ‘Artists To Watch’ program.
“And we’re driving to the edge with the city lights on. I know you’re wondering why nobody stickin’ around and why nothing lasts long. But with this pink sky blazing on the west side baby don’t you feel wholesome. If you fall short of your potential, baby this will be a problem.” – lyrics
Easy Life is a form of escapism that rejects all the pressures that modern life brings. Their music will take you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living and put you in a relaxing state.
“Easy Life is a form of escapism. Living is proving to be increasingly difficult with all the pressures that modern life brings, and easy life rejects this materialistic philosophy; easy life is a hedonistic vision. When we coined the name there was a lot less thinking involved, but it feels like we have embodied the name over time rather than setting out from day one knowing exactly what it is we were looking for.” – Murray, frontman
