Delaney Jane – “On Paper” music video
“I always knew I wanted to capture and convey the emotion from ‘On Paper’ in a visual form because it was so personal to me, making it so powerful. I feel like it’s something so many can relate to. Also, there’s nothing I love more than connecting with people all over the world and from all walks of life, through art.” – Delaney Jane stated
‘On Paper’ tells a heart-aching tale of a woman who wants out of a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, for a while now she’s been thinking about ending their relationship. However, she knows doing so will surely break her companion’s heart. Therefore, she admits the hardest part is knowing that her partner believes that she is a perfect fit for him.
The music video was filmed by friends on a hazy LA afternoon. The video finds a torn Delaney Jane confronting an internal battle between her head and heart – an ideal visualizer for the track’s emotion-tinged, heart-on-sleeve lyricism.
“As if my intuition was trying to tell me something, and upon writing ‘On Paper’, it might’ve been the first time I really started listening. Since writing it, I’ve trusted my gut 110% and made so many life changes. It’s scary and exciting and really has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions this year. But I’m getting by, as we all are. Just have to trust where my intuition is guiding me, even threw the hard days.” – Delaney Jane stated
‘On Paper’ finds Delaney Jane making her own revelations when it comes to love. The emotional tune contains a relatable narrative, ear-welcoming vocals, and sentimental lyrics. Also, the song possesses moody instrumentation flavored with a warm indie-pop aroma. Furthermore, “On Paper” serves as a wonderful presentation to what listeners can expect to hear on Delaney Jane’s forthcoming EP, entitled, “Just As Much”, set for release in Fall 2020.
“Boy, you’re perfect on paper if only what I wrote down was real.”
“Two in the morning, you’re asleep and I’m tossing in my head. There’s a war going on inside my mind and my heart is winning it. And you don’t even know when you open up your eyes it’s over. I wish I could say that I feel this way ’cause I’m not sober. Maybe, I’ll regret this. Maybe, second-guess this, love. But I gotta let you go even though I wanna hold you closer.” – lyrics
