Beryl Anne releases a lovely indie-pop tune, entitled, “Burden”

Beryl Anne is a singer-songwriter based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Not too long ago, she released a lovely indie-pop tune, entitled, “Burden,” written by Anne den Boer and produced by Benjamin Rheinlander.

Beryl Anne – “Burden” single

“You keep dancing on your own and I watch you while you’re sleeping, spending hours on the phone. How am I supposed to lie here? Say it’s right when you are wrong, dear. Got me frozen to the bone. Did you notice where we’ve been? You’re the controller, I’m the screen. Watch me go now, look at me now.” – lyrics

‘Burden’ tells an intriguing tale about a young woman who shares a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, she’s tangled in stories that weigh heavy on her back. Later, she helplessly tells her partner, “You’ve got me cornered inside your circle.”

‘Burden’ contains a relatable narrative and bright vocal harmonies – inspired by the ‘80s and artists like Emily King, HAIM, and Christine and the Queens. The synth-laden tune possesses glossy instrumentation flavored with contemporary and indie-pop elements. Furthermore, “Burden” serves as a tasty appetizer to what listeners can expect to hear on Beryl Anne’s forthcoming EP, entitled, “Paper Walls,” set to be released in February of 2022.

“Turn me on and I’ll burn the bridges to carry you home.”

“‘Burden’ is about holding on to a relationship where partners are not equal and turn out to be a burden for each other.” – Beryl Anne explained

Beryl Anne writes crispy and edgy electronic pop tunes. In March of 2019, she released her debut EP, “Land of Mine,” presented to a sold-out venue, Roodkapje, in Rotterdam. Not too long after, Beryl won the Elevator Pitch at 3FM, performed live on the radio, and toured the country with the Popronde.
