“Fumbling” captures a raw, emotional experience through its evocative lyrics. The song portrays a search for clarity and the struggle with inner turmoil. As Augustine climbs five stories high, the imagery evokes a desire to gain a broader perspective on life, reflecting a common human experience.

The repeated phrase, ‘and I’m fumbling,’ is a powerful testament to the feeling of uncertainty that many face. Augustine’s lyrics resonate with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by their circumstances. The metaphor of climbing high to see further symbolizes the struggle to rise above daily challenges and gain insight.

Overall, Augustine’s willingness to share personal vulnerabilities through “Fumbling” is key to its impact. The themes of needing more than the immediate reality and confronting mental health struggles are relatable, making “Fumbling” a reflection of contemporary issues. By addressing feelings of being tethered and the discomfort with prescribed solutions, Augustine invites listeners to consider their own journeys. Music has a unique power to articulate personal battles, and Augustine’s ‘Fumbling’ does just that.

“I’d call you up but it wouldn’t make sense.”

In his own words, Augustine explains, “It feels like I’ve been running uphill for over a year. Nothing has sounded right, every chord progression has felt cheesy or already written, and I’ve been tired of my own voice. There have been so many days where I’ve woken up and just felt ‘ugh.’ I’m so tired of that feeling. Even small tasks have felt heavy, like calling Rassmus, who is the other half of the project. No one really wants to talk about work, but somehow, we always end up talking about work because there’s always something that needs to be done. How do you reset?”

“This is not forever; this is temporary low.”

Born out of a love for groovy 70s melodies, Augustine’s lush blend of soulful falsetto, playful soundscapes, and melancholic stories has amassed 50M streams independently. In true DIY spirit, Augustine has grown a dedicated fan base of half a million unique monthly listeners and more than 50M streams worldwide. His debut album was followed by a European tour and a dreamy cover of Cass Elliot’s “New World Coming” for Volvo’s global EX90 campaign.
