“Yoga” is an irresistible track that captures Asha Maclean’s hypnotic, silky smooth vocals that glide like liquid gold through a kaleidoscope of colorful dance floor beats, embodying a vibrant burst of pop meets intoxicating ‘90s R&B energy. Thematically, the song captures the dynamic push and pull of a relationship, echoing the euphoric highs and soul-stirring lows, mirroring the beautiful chaos of modern love, and striking the perfect balance in a challenging yoga pose.

The opening line suggests a journey of empowerment: “Feel like a warrior, stand tall like a tree.” This message resonates deeply, encouraging listeners to embrace their true selves while exuding confidence. The lyrics take us on a spiritual adventure, emphasizing the connection between two people, illustrated beautifully by the lines: “I’m yin and you’re my yang, but we’re the same.” This interplay of duality highlights the importance of balance in relationships.

The essence of “Yoga” is captured in the chorus, where Maclean sings, “You’re just like yoga, yoga; you got me twisted, twisted.” The imagery of bending, stretching, and jumping through hoops reflects the dynamic nature of love, growth, and spiritual connection. Overall, “Yoga” provides a soundtrack for our quests for strength. The song symbolizes flexibility, not only in physicality but also in emotional resilience. As we navigate life’s challenges, we can find joy and strength in the twists and turns of our journeys, cultivating a sense of peace through shared experiences.

“You’ll fly like a butterfly when you’re with me.”

Asha Maclean channels the essence of iconic legends like Michael and Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Queen, crafting a sound that’s both refreshingly new and warmly nostalgic. Her distinct artistic vision is evident in every facet, from her commanding vocals to her innovative dance performances. As an artist to watch, she has already made significant waves by collaborating with renowned names like Grammy-winning producer Charles Farrar, Boyz II Men, Darius Rucker, and more.

Asha had a home and school life that fostered her creativity. “My mom is a visual artist,” she explains, “and my dad worked with people who were in the music industry and was an artist himself.” Her parents introduced her to artists like Michael Jackson and Prince, as well as the R&B artists of the ‘90s. “I just loved the sound of the greats,” she says. “They were a huge inspiration for me to start singing.”

At school, Asha was exposed to the arts even more, as her middle school curriculum cycled between dance, singing, digital art, and the visual arts. Gravitating the most towards singing and dance, Asha spent her days in her room practicing and ultimately honing her craft. “I was always singing karaoke-style and making up my own dance routines,” she adds. By the time she reached high school, Asha was recording covers and uploading the videos to Instagram.

One cover in particular was a game changer. “I was 14, and I posted a video of me singing a Billie Eilish song, and that’s when I was discovered,” says Asha. The cover caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Charles Farrar, known for his work with Tyrese, Boyz II Men, B2K, and SWV. Now, under his mentorship at VYRUS MEDIA, Asha is stepping into her own as a rising artist with a sound as vibrant and soulful as her roots.
