A deeply personal and emotionally charged body of work, Diaries of a Common Woman finds Alana exploring themes of identity, resilience, and mental health with striking vulnerability. Blending elements of soul, R&B, and pop, the project showcases her powerhouse vocals and emotional storytelling – a combination that’s quickly earning attention from notable media outlets.

Speaking about the new project, Alana shares: “‘Diaries of a Common Woman’ navigates my experiences with the extremes of mania, numbness, and depression. Having been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, I use my art to reflect the complexities of trauma and the stigma surrounding mental health, translating deeply personal experiences into sonic and visual form.”

After a standout summer touring with Macy Gray, Alana will celebrate the EP release with a special headline show in Los Angeles at Black Rabbit Rose on Wednesday, November 12th.

In her own words, Alana explains, “When you listen to me, I want you to feel inspired to be your full truest self. I hope you feel the gritty, raw earth in my music.” Alana’s truth always resided in music. Growing up in Kentucky, she developed her talents in vocal lessons as a kid and by participating in theater and singing in the church. The choir embraced her talent and encouraged her to even perform solos throughout high school. At the same time, she listened to everyone from Jill Scott and Lauryn Hill to Ella Fitzgerald and Common.

After attending college in Nashville, Alana sold all of her belongings, moved to Maui, and pursued music full-time. Life twisted and turned with spells in Aspen, Bali, and Mexico. 2018 saw her embark on another life-changing trip, studying music at the Northern Indian School of Classical music and yoga and mantra in the Himalayas. “More than ever, I realized music could be a tool for healing,” she says.
